Never Love a Logger by Edna Curry, Whiskey Creek Press, October – 2011

A historical romance set against the background of the big log jam pictured below from the 1886 Taylors Falls, MN, log jam, the largest log jam Ever. It depicts life in the logging days with lots of detail about the lives of people during that time.

What happens when a rough and ready logger who wants no responsibility and thinks he doesn’t deserve a second chance at love falls for an attractive prim and proper lady with a ready made family?

The largest logjam ever occurred in1886 at Taylors Falls, MN. It garnered worldwide attention and made the history books as far away as Sweden. Reporters arrived by train from all over.
Will and Carrie think there is no chance for them to have a family of their own. Each has reasons to avoid love and entanglements. Will is burned out on responsibility after helping his widowed mother raise his siblings and his wife and infant son died. Carrie thinks no man will want her and her brother. She promised her father she’d raise her brother and while she’s attracted to Will, duty comes first.
Then the greatest logjam in the world throws them together for six weeks. Will is staying at the boarding house where she works while he and many others try to break up the logjam. Can their love last beyond the summer logjam?
There are many pictures of the log jam on the MN Historical Society's website and on the WI Historical Society's website as well.

The article Edna wrote for the log jam’s 100th anniversary that was published in June, 1986, is still available on Amazon.com and other places on the web. See her website, www.ednacurry.com for more information.

Edna Curry, Author

This is the cover of my new book coming out Aug. 15 from Whiskey Creek Press/Torrid.

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Another gorgeous morning,

70 degrees and sunny in MN, though it's supposed to get hot and muggy later today. Oh, well, a few more weeks and we'll be complaining that it's cold.

3,500 new words on the current manuscript in the past 4 days. Feels great to be making progross again after a long break to do edits and galleys on the soon to be released books.
Also got the preview of the cover for I'll Always Find You which comes out Aug. 15. Love it! Will post as soon as I get the final version.

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Still hot and steamy in MN. Ugh.
Think I'll do laundry and stay inside.

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Hot, hot, hot

We're having a string of 90s in MN. Yes, that's very unusual.
Thank God for a/c!
Hope the heat doesn't brew up a storm.

Peanut butter cookies recipe

Here's my peanut butter cookie recipe:

Peanut Butter Cookies

Mix together thoroughly: 1/2 c white sugar or substitute

1/2 c brown sugar, 1/2 c Crisco, 1/2 c peanut butter and 1 egg.

Sift together and stir in: 1 1/4 c flour, 1/2 t baking powder, 3/4 t. baking soda and 1/4 t salt.

Chill dough. Roll into balls the size of large walnuts. Place 3” apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in water-criss-cross. Bake until set but not hard in 350* oven for 8-10 minutes.

Makes about 3 dozen cookiies.

Cookies

The peanut butter cookies turned out good. Here, try one.

More rain.

Aaack. It's raining outside, but the thunder and lightning stopped, so I'm back.
All of my followers disappeared. If you followed me, could you please click follow again?
Sigh. Why does blogspot make this so difficult?

Must go bake some peanut butter cookies.

More rain

I'm back, since the rain has let up a bit. Supposed to get hot.

All my followers have disappeared again. This is disgusting!
Why does blogspot make things so difficult?
Sigh.

Think I'll give up and go bake some peanut butter cookies.

Busy, Busy

Sorry to have disappeared.
Been busy. Attended the WISRWA writer's conference in Brookfield. Very interesting, but a very long drive.
Then a huge family reunion weekend gathering (dh's side) in southern MN (115 on Sat.) Lots of fun, but again a long drive. Exhausting.
Then learned my sister had passed away after a long battle with cancer, so cut the weekend short and came back home, then took off again the next morning for her funeral. Another huge gathering on my side of the family. Sad reason to get together, but good to see everyone.
Now it's back home and trying to rest up and get caught up with everything.
Weather was horribly hot the past two days, 83 today after rain last night to cool things down.

Oh, and I temporarily lowered the price to 99 cents on three novels, Dead Man's Image (a Lacey Summers Mystery), Mirror Image (formerly called Angel Wings) and Traveling Bug.
Check them out at Amazon or Barnesandnoble.com

A lovely day

Finally, we've got two sunny days in a row! Yay! 67 today.
Though we did get a shower of rain this morning.

Went to St. Cloud to see my sister yesterday. Had a nice visit. She's on hospice care now and not doing very well, but we enjoyed the visit. Her husband is also in poor health.

I'm going through another older manuscript today, preparing to put it up on Kindle, Nook, etc.
Can't believe how much time that takes.

My Sister's Keeper

My Sister’s Keeper

Mystery novelist Candi finds herself in trouble way over her head when her sister, Jolene, drops off her baby asking Candi to keep it safe from its father and disappears. She needs to meet her deadline and doesn't have time to bail Jolene out of trouble for the umpteenth time. She's sick of responsibility. But FBI agent Luke shows up, saying Jolene is part of a jewelry thief gang. Worse, Luke suspects Candi of being one of the thieves herself. Assigned to watch her, he finds himself falling for her and the cute baby, wanting her, but never gets involved with a suspect. Then they find that secrets from the past threaten Candi's whole family.

Mirror Image

Mirror Image by Edna Curry

Twins LaRae and Lauri were identical in looks and voices, but had very different interests and personalities. When they fell in love with the same man, Jass, they went separate ways. LaRae married him and had a daughter, Susie, now 5, while Laurie moved to California and has a successful modeling career. The twins die in a car accident and proceed to heaven where Emy, an angel, tells LaRae Susie is in danger and she must return to protect her. LaRae refuses and Laurie, playing their old switcheroo game, takes her place, pretending to be LaRae.
But Laurie knows next to nothing about LaRae’s life back in Minnesota. She keeps intending to tell Jass the truth, but dreams of Emy reminding her Susie is in danger prevent her from doing that. Can she play the game long enough to protect Susie and win Jass’ love?

New Cover

Another gorgeous spring day in Minnesota!

But I still have lots of piles of snow in my yard. Sigh. It should have been melted weeks ago.

But on the bright side, my crocus are up and some daffodils, too! No blooms yet.

I also got the cover of my next book, Dead in Bed which will come out in May. It's on my website along with more details. Edna

Wednesday

Spent the morning at Majestic Falls Spa, getting prettied up. LOL. Well, my hair, at least.
It's another cold, sunny day in Minnesota. Sunshine and snowflurries drifting down at the same time. Orval took me out to lunch, so I got out of the house, then bought new snowboots. Warm and furry ones.
The Speedee truck followed me home and brought me office supplies, so now I have no excuse.
So, it's back to work on revisions!
