Excerpt:

The sound of crying in the library/office made Watcher freeze. Swinging around, Watcher saw Horace’s wife sitting on the floor, crying.

“Y--you’re not real,” Watcher told her. “You’re dead, Esther. I went to your funeral. Go away and leave me alone.”

She kept on crying, then rose and started toward him. “You’re just as guilty. You need to be punished. I’ll see that you pay for my daughter’s death,” she said.

“No, go away. You’re not real, you’re just an—an image, a figment of my im—imagination,” Watcher said.

She picked up a heavy metal poker from the stand beside the fireplace. With a furious look on her face, she raised it over her head and came toward the Watcher.

“No!” Watcher screamed and bolted out the door and down the road.

First book in the Lady Locksmith Mystery series.

Cassie Jenning's job as a small-town locksmith often puts her in odd and scary situations. In this story, she was behind the Lilliput Bar when the owner was shot. Now Sheriff Ben would like nothing better than to solve the case quickly by arresting her. Homicide Detective Chance Martin burned out on violence in Minneapolis, so took a small town job thinking he'd find peace. Instead, he's in charge of solving this murder. He meets Cassie and can't believe she's involved. But can he prove it?
What I've been reading: Time's Embrace by Deb Stover  5 Stars

Scary, yet wonderful time travel stories. Deb Stover creates interesting, memorable characters and throws them into unforgettable situations.Three exciting and different fish-out-of-water stories where the main characters have to deal with new situations. Zach and Hilary's story will stick with you. Zach and Miss Nellie battle to overcome the same problem and Elliot was a sweet and memorable young man.
Each story was different, yet showed Deb's skill with creating the details of the past and humorous characters. Good job, Deb!

Served my circle meeting this morning and now have to go see the dentist. Sigh.

From the fun to the icky. Oh, well, such is life. Maybe he'll fix the tooth so it  stops hurting. That would be a good thing.

It's feeling like fall the past few days, but my fushia's are still looking beautiful. I take them inside the garage each time they predict frost. Hope to keep them a while more that way.

Here's a link to the last good book I read, Journey of a Soul:

Body in the Antique Trunk: http://amzn.to/1n3T97e

Excerpt:
As I hung up, two police cars drove up and parked. Chance strode from the first one. My heartbeat sped up as it always did when I saw him. He’s a hunk, delightfully tall, ruggedly built, with curly brown hair. And he’s usually very nice and friendly to me.
But now he was in his cop mode. His piercing blue eyes glared from below his heavy eyebrows as he paused in front of me. “Cassie. What are you doing here?”
“Working, Chance.”
“Do you always have to be involved when there’s trouble in our county?”
My temper flared and I glared back. “I’m not ‘involved’ as you call it. I just got here and whoever is stinking up the garage has been dead for quite a while.”
He frowned at me, his expression surprised. “Yeah? You’ve smelled a dead body before?”
I swallowed and nodded. Chance stared at me, and then he and the sheriff exchanged looks. Chance’s expression plainly said we’d talk about this later. This was one more thing about my past that I hadn’t told him. “Where is it?”
